Hawick to Stobs and Barnes Loch
Leaders
Ian Loudon & Wattie Scott
This is a circular and moderate walk which passes through some of Hawick’s historic parts before reaching Williestruther loch and Acreknowe Reservoir. We then follow a woodland path to the former Stobs army camp which was purchased by the War Office in 1902 as a military training ground then held 6,000 German prisoners in the Great War and remained in military use until it closed in 1959. Next is a visit to Barnes Loch prior to returning to Hawick.
