How to get here

Peebles is about 30 minutes by car from Edinburgh, and an hour from Glasgow, Newcastle or Carlisle. You can plan your journey using Google Maps or find public transport using Traveline Scotland.

Peebles is served by the X62 Edinburgh – Melrose bus.

Car parking

Kingsmeadows Road car park will be closed on the Sunday for a cycling festival, and it is likely that most of the available on-street parking around the town centre, plus car parking in the East Station Car Park and Greenside Car Park will probably be full early on the Sunday morning. We therefore recommend that if you are arriving on the Sunday, you arrive early in order to find on-street parking further out from the town centre.

The remainder of the week, Monday to Saturday, should be much easier for parking, but Thursday is the Market Day in East Station Car Park (Edinburgh Road Car Park), which fills up quickly; although this car park is free Monday to Friday, there is a charge for parking there on Saturdays..Greenside Car Park (west end of High Street, cross Cuddy Bridge, and turn left into Greenside) has a small number of further spaces, and there are charges Monday to Saturday. Neidpath Road Car Park, (on the outskirts of the west side of Peebles, A72 Peebles – Glasgow road) is not large, but there are no charges for parking, and it does not take long to walk into the town centre.

There will be rolling road closures on the Sunday for the cycling event, which will mainly affect traffic on the roads to the south-west of Peebles at various times, including the A701 Broughton to Tweedsmuir, the Tweedsmuir to Gordon Arms road; B709 Gordon Arms to Traquair; and B7062 Traquair to Peebles. There should not be any effect on the A72 road between Innerleithen – Peebles, or the A703 Edinburgh – Peebles road, other than it being busy with spectator traffic. See a map of the road closures.
