John Buchan, author of the Thirty-Nine Steps and other “shockers” had strong family links with the Scottish Borders. His mother’s family farmed at Broughton and his father’s brother was Town Clerk at Peebles. Alastair Learmont of Learmont Mackenzie Travel examines Buchan’s extraordinary career and looks at the landscape which inspired him. This event is linked to Walk 1.2 - John Buchan Way: Broughton to Peebles on Saturday 4th.
